Huts
Raeburn Hut, near Laggan
This hut was newly constructed in 1988 and named after Harold Raeburn who joined the Club in 1896 and was an outstanding early influence on Scottish mountaineering.
The hut is located on the north side of the A889 between Dalwhinnie and Laggan at G.R. NN 63606 90913 (altitude 319m). It is one of two our properties to be owned by the Club, the other being the Naismith Hut. Please park vehicles in the layby 200m north of the hut on the west side of the road. Allow access to the track behind the layby.

It is one of the most comfortable of our huts, excepting possibly the wooden seats in the kitchen which are uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. The view out is a superb vista across Strath Spey to the Monadh Liath hills, while the green field in front sees the Black Cocks spar every spring. The hut is centrally placed for the Cairngorms to the east, and the winter routes of Creag Meagaidh to the south-west. The rock climbing on both Creag Dubh, Newtonmore, and Binnein Shuas are also a short drive away.

There
is accommodation for 15 persons in two dormitories. Mattresses are
provided. The hut is fully equipped and has toilets and a shower.
Cooking and main heating are by propane gas, lighting is electric,
as are the microwave and toaster! No smoking is permitted on the
premises.

Applications to stay at the hut should be addressed to the Honorary Custodian:
