The SMC Journal has maintained a continuous record of mountain activities in Scotland since 1890. The current Editor is Noel Williams, whose first issue was in 2008. It emerges annually, usually in June/July, and may be found in any good quality climbing & walking shop, and the larger bookshops. The retail price is £13.95. Affiliated clubs can purchase copies at a discount through their Club Secretary. For MCofS affiliated clubs there is a discount. If you live too far from a stockist, you can set up a subscription from our Distribution Manager, or purchase it from our distributor Cordee.

The W.H. Murray Literary Prize

Every year, articles in the Journal may be judged for the W.H. Murray Literary Prize. Along with the obvious warm glow which winning this brings, a cheque for £250 and an invitation to the following annual SMC Dinner follows. Winning articles of this award, which began in 1998, are available for download here, and provide a further taste of the Journal's contents.
