The SMC offers a diverse number of publications, appealing to all outdoor enthusiasts. These pages present a summary of our offerings, in addition to our annual Journal.

		Contour Maps of the UK and Republic of Ireland		If you use a GPS and have sufficient memory, these free files allow you to use your GPS unit with contours down to 10m intervals and significant summits and trig points shown. Based on the NASA shuttle surveys, they are available free, only by direct download. The files are available for download here:Contour Maps
		Munros & Corbetts GPS Data Set		GPS Data Sets - Version 3, all routes in GPS Exchange Format (gpx). Upgrade available for previous purchasers of Version 1 or 2 for £3.00 - if you purchased the data set containing two sets of files, one small, one large, then you have Version 1. Version 2 came out round about April or May 2005, and now has one set of files only. This latest GPS data set contains GPS routes for the Munros, Corbetts & Other Hills, painstakingly recorded from maps. Route cards are included for all routes in pdf format. Invaluable and time saving for anyone using a GPS for navigation in the hills. Appropriate GPS software required. Available only by direct download. Please go here for full info. 		SMC New Climbs Archive		This archive contains the full text of the New Climbs as published annually in the SMC Journal. They will be useful for keen climbers who wish to maintain a full record of what's been done recently. They are also useful for keeping your local crag up to date between guidebook editions. The data sets are in pdf format. The sets run from 2003 onwards and are available here

'You're never alone with an SMC guidebook'. Sounds like a trite soundbite dreamt up by a junior in an ad office, but there is some truth in it. You don't have to use our guidebooks, and you certainly don't have to follow any of the recommended routes found in them, but the information found in our hillwalking, climbing and scrambling series have been built on for over 110 years by experts in the game and would save you endless hours in your plans.
