Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Tamsin Bird - 5105
Ben More, Mull - 26 August 2012
Tamsin (in purple) and Andrew (in blue, Munroist 5106) climbed Ben More via A’ Chioch with son Jonathan (178 Munros). On the top we met with daughter Hazel (91 Munros) and her husband Neil (2 Munros) who had ascended by the North-West ridge. Sadly we didn’t get to see the views!
Tamsin climbed her first Munro (Cairn Gorm) – also on 26 August - aged 14 with her father Bruce Andrews. Bruce was Andrew’s maths teacher and led him up his first Munro (Sgurr Mhor on Beinn Alligin) at the age of 19. Bruce has a lot to answer for! Married in 1981, we carried on climbing and gradually found ourselves "bagging" all the Munros – over 30 years of wonderful trips to Scotland, many with Hazel and Jonathan, often camping remote at high-level. We actually camped on one Munro summit (because the midges drove us there), and - because of living so far south - have often climbed straight after an all-night drive (most memorably Sgurr Nan Gillean by the Pinnacle Ridge in June this year).
Our plans for the near future include climbing the only three Munros we haven’t summitted together, plus the Furths and the remaining Munro Tops. How many others “forgot” to summit Knight’s Peak on the way up Sgurr nan Gillean?!
