Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

Ben Lomond - 26 October 2013
I completed the munros in just under 3 years. I set myself the challenge of climbing all the munros in Scotland in 3 years to help raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis Scotland. I've raised approximately £6,320. I wanted to compleat before my 50th birthday. My first hill was Ben Ime on 23/01/2011 and I finished on Ben Lomond on 26/10/2013, aged 49. I live on the Island of Bute which has made climbing the Munros even more of a challenge as the island is completely cut off at night which meant I had to spend numerous nights on the mainland as I couldn't get home in time to catch the last ferry.
I'm a member of the Lylecraigs Hillwalking Club and the Inverclyde Ramblers and have climbed many Munros with them but I've also had to climb a lot of the Munros by myself because of the time limit I had set myself. Members of both clubs and some family were with me at the top of Ben Lomond - 42 in total - so it was a bit crowded! It was also my husband's, son's, sister's, and her husband's first Munro so we had a double celebration.
I'm going to continue walking with the aforementioned clubs but am definitely not ticking anything else off! I'm going to enjoy the walks without any pressure on me to get to the summit. My new challenge is learning Gaelic so I might be able to pronounce properly the names of all those Munros I've climbed.
