Despite the poor weather forecast, no one wimped out at the last minute and the wind, sleet and rain duly arrived mid-morning on the Saturday and stayed for the duration…typical Glen Coe, but perhaps more usual in the Autumn. Enthusiasm, however, was high and short-clad members stepped out early to at least start in the dry. One team summitted Ben Starav, while a group of four ran the Aonoch Eagach directly from the hut via the Devil’s Staircase, with two of the hosts in slow pursuit as far as Am Bodach. Not to be outdone, Dave Kerr and Geoff Cohen climbed January Jigsaw, a great effort.

By late afternoon, with all showered and refreshed, everyone settled down to an extended dinner and much conversation. It was still raining on the Sunday but a few stalwarts once again went for a run up the hills while the rest took the soft option and left for home, but not before phone numbers had been swapped in the hope of warm, dry rock in the future.
